Accessibility statement

Our commitment
Desks North East is run by Dove Design Ltd. We want everyone to be able to find a desk, office or meeting room in the North East, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we've built in
- Colour contrast checked against WCAG AA for text, badges, buttons and focus outlines (for example, body text is 11.76:1 on our background; labels such as "Featured · Ad" are 6.64:1).
- Colour is never the only way information is shown: links are underlined, and paid placements carry a text label, not just a colour.
- A clearly visible keyboard focus outline on every interactive element.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, including search, filters, the results list and the "Map" toggle.
- Touch targets at least 44 × 44 pixels.
- Text can be resized to 200% and pages reflow down to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
- Headings, landmarks and form labels for screen readers; the results count is announced when filters change.
- The map is optional: every result is also in the list, with its address and a "Directions" link, so you never need the map to use the site.
- Placeholder images are marked as decorative; the site doesn't rely on images to convey information.
- No time limits, no auto-playing media, and no content that flashes.
- Respects "reduce motion" settings.
- Plain English throughout.
How accessible this site is
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We haven't finished a full manual accessibility test yet, so we don't claim full compliance. The issues we know about are listed below.
Known issues
- The maps are static illustrations and aren't to scale. All the same information is in the results list.
- Information about the spaces themselves (for example step-free access) comes from operators and may be incomplete. Please check with the operator.
Accessibility of the spaces we list
We show "step-free access" only where an operator publishes it, and we can't check it ourselves. If access matters to you, please confirm the details with the space before you visit.
Feedback and contact
If you find anything on the site hard to use, or you need information in a different format, email hello@desksnortheast.co.uk with "Accessibility" in the subject. Tell us the page address and what the problem was. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
Enforcement
If you're not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS): www.equalityadvisoryservice.com.
How we tested
So far we've run automated checks (Lighthouse) on the main page templates. A manual test (keyboard only, screen readers, 200% zoom and 320px reflow) is still to do, and we'll update this statement when it's done.
This statement was prepared on 19 October 2026.
